La Lotería

La Lotería is a traditional Mexican game that is similar to Bingo.  Each player chooses a card that has 16 pictures on it (instead of numbers like in Bingo).  The caller picks out random pictures and calls them out (sometimes by name, and sometimes by riddle) and the players place a marker on the picture if it appears on their card.  The person that gets four in a row (or in a square--whatever is decided upon at the beginning of the game) wins.  You can read more about this traditional game in English or Español.

Below are links to download a lotería game to practice the Spanish alphabet.

First, use this alphabet page to learn each letter and memorize the word that goes with each picture.  You can cut along the lines to turn this sheet into little flash cards.  The cards will later be used by the person who acts as the "caller" during the game.

I have created two different sets of tablas (the player cards).  This set has just the letters of the alphabet.  This set has just the pictures.  You can play the game in different ways to reinforce the letter sounds in different ways.

Using the tablas with letters:
The caller can call the letters OR call out the word that goes with each letter.   When a player wins the game, make sure that they repeat back the letter sounds they have marked off on their tabla.

Using the tablas with pictures:
The caller can call the word that goes with the picture, or just the letter sound.  When a player wins the game, make sure that they repeat back the letter sounds they have marked off on their tabla.
